RETURN OF WARMONGER FROM THE NINETIES

Strong reactions on returning journalist Milijana Baletic on RTV Vojvodina

Belgrade, Novi Sad, May 09, 2011 (Blic) - The Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS) and the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (NDNV) expressed their protest over the appearance of journalist Milijana Baletic in the role of an author and screenwriter on Radio-Television Vojvodina, calling it scandalous. Journalists' associations said that the author of the episode "Portrait of Nikola Kusovac - myth dusting", aired this week on RTV was "one of the symbols of warmongering journalism in the nineties, hate speech, promotion of the nationalist ideology and disregard for fundamental ethical standards".

"The return of Milijana Baletic to RTV - a public broadcasting service financed by the citizens - is a slap in the face to the democratic public and evidence of further deteriorating of the reputation of journalism profession and the fundamental ethical principles", NUNS and NDNV stated in the joint statement.

"The Civic Vojvodina" also strongly protested over the appearance of journalist Milijana Baletic in the program aired RTV, naming her "doyen of the warmongering journalism".
