Opposition: What country does Anne Brasseur speak of?

10.3.2015. (Tanjug) - BELGRADE- Opposition MPs described on Tuesday as optimistic the observation made by President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Anne Brasseur about the Serbian government's reform measures in her address to the Serbian parliament earlier in the day.

Head of the Democratic Party (DS) parliamentary group Borislav Stefanovic told reporters that it was brought to the PACE president's attention that parts of her address relating to the reform process in Serbia did not correspond to the reality.

"We live in the country where there is a prešure on independent institutions, where there is no full media freedom," Stefanovic said, noting that the ruling coalition and opposition do not have equal opportunities for taking part in parliamentary debates.

Deputy head of the Social Democratic Party (SDS) parliamentary group Janko Veselinovic also said that he "would like to live in the country Brasseur was speaking of" and that he did not recognize Serbia in that.
