“Glas Javnosti” and “Kurir” Owner Attacked

Belgrade, 20/04/2004 – The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) strongly condemns yesterday's attack on Radisav Rodic, owner of daily newspapers “Glas Javnosti” and “Kurir”.

ANEM stresses that Rodic has more than once been the target of a physical attack. On July 6 last year, a bomb exploded under his car in Ljutica Bogdan Street in Belgrade, as he ate lunch in a nearby restaurant. The perpetrators have yet to be identified.

ANEM calls on the authorised bodies to undertake a rigorous investigation into the attack on Radisav Rodic, establish the facts and find those responsible, bearing in mind the effect such an attack has not only on Rodic’s newspapers but on the free media as a whole.

Slobodan Stojsic
Chairman of ANEM Managing Board
