ANEM CONDEMNS BOMB ATTACK AT JOURNALIST DEJAN ANASTASIJEVIC
BELGRADE, April 14, 2007 – The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) strenuously condemns the bomb attack at journalist Dejan Anastasijevic’s apartment.
The bomb exploded last night outside the apartment of Dejan Anastasijevic, journalist of Belgrade weekly „Vreme“, but caused no injuries, the Serbian police said.
Anastasijevic was attacked before for his investigative reporting on crimes in former Yugoslavia and organized crime in Serbia. Last night’s attack followed Anastasijevic’s criticism of too lenient verdict for the members of the Serb paramilitaries called “Scorpions” on Radio and TV B92.
ANEM demands a full, energetic and efficient investigation by the authorities to find and penalize perpetrators, demonstrating this way the readiness of the government to protect Anastasijevic and his family and freedom of expression in general.
ANEM urges media and professional associations and democratic public to clearly express their solidarity with journalist Dejan Anastasijevic and thus protect their right to critical reporting on issues still deemed a taboo in the Serbian public.
Sasa Mirkovic,
ANEM Chairman
