PROPOSITION OF THE CANDIDATE LIST FOR THE RBA COUNCIL MEMBER COORDINATED AMONG MEDIA ORGANIZATIONS

Media organizations coordinated, and on July 3, submitted to the Culture and Information Committee of Serbian Assembly the list of candidates for vacant seat in the Council of Republican Broadcasting Agency (RBA).

After the consultations, which were held between June 19 and July 02, media organizations and associations, in order to fulfill the formal requests, coordinated the list with two candidates – Gordana Susa and Milan Becejic. Gordana Susa was proposed by Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) and Independent Journalists Society of Vojvodina (NDNV), while Milan Becejic was proposed by Journalists’ Association of Serbia (UNS). Each organization kept the right to publicly promote its candidate, since the formation of the joint lists doesn’t imply that those candidates are mutual. The list was signed and jointly submitted, besides the named three organizations, by ANEM and APRES (which represents BARS and RTV Press), which are also the authorized proposers and don’t have their own candidate, thus supporting the coordinated candidates on the list of NUNS, NDNV and UNS.

In the further proceedings of proposing RBA Council member candidate, media associations and organizations will be represented by Sasa Mirkovic, ANEM President.

ANEM considered coordination and formation of the joint list of candidates for vacant seat in the Council of RBA, extremely important for the media sector. For that reason, ANEM directed its capacities to adjustment and adequate formulation of candidate list. ANEM has, during the process of candidature, provided the expert, legal assistance and took care of legality of entire process – writing the proposal, organization of its submission, looking after the deadlines and legal procedure.

ANEM will continue to monitor the procedure of proposing and election of the RBA Council member. According to the latest changes of the Broadcasting Law, Assembly President will announce the valid lists of candidates for RBA Council at least 10 days before voting in the Assembly.
