INTERNATIONAL PRESS CENTRE CONGRESS IN LJUBLJANA

LJUBLJANA, May 10, 2002 - The most prominent world media association, the International Press Institute, begins today in Ljubljana. The topic of this year's congress is "The vision of the Balkan". About four hundred prominent journalists, publishers, media experts and politicians will present their vision of the situation in south-east Europe and discuss the most important issues of expanding EU journalism in the present day. Special attention will be paid to the freedom of opinion, media independence and development, free journalism and its contribution to the development of the democratisation process.
