Conference on journalist protection to begin on Thursday

26.3.2015. (Tanjug) - BELGRADE - The two-day international conference entitled "Protection of safety and integrity of journalists in the OSCE region" will open in the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade on Thursday.


The conference opening will feature an address by OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Minister of Culture and Information Ivan Tasovac and OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic.

After the opening ceremony, Dacic will have a separate meeting with OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic.

The meeting was organised by the Serbian Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support from the Office of the OSCE representative on freedom of the media and it is designed as a forum for exchange of opinion and experiences for government representatives, media, legislative bodies and other relevant factors. The focus of the conference will rest on problems and challenges the media are facing today, as well as possible recommendations for improvement of journalist safety, states the release.
