ANEM comments and recommendations to Ministry of Culture's Draft amendments to Broadcast Act

BELGRADE, July 27, 2006. - Convinced that every change of the law that regulates such a sensitive issue of freedom of expression demands utterly balanced treatment and consultations with wide circle of interested parties, we acknowledge and greet the decision of the Ministry to take a responsible approach to this issue after yet another set of hasty and rather urgent amendments to the Broadcast Act. Certain solutions provided by the Act have been proven problematic in practice, and ANEM’s uncompromising opinion is that the law should indeed be amended. However, in that sense, it is necessary to set the priorities of these amendments and clearly define goals to achieve
